One of the two theme parks at Universal Resorts, Islands of Adventure is their more traditional, ride oriented park. It's made up of several different sections (islands). Here is Michelle standing in front of the lighthouse that guides you to the entrance to the park.
The park itself isn't as big as many I've been to, but they had some incredible shows and rides. The best ride by far was The Amazing Spider-Man. Sorry, no pictures. The ride is like a chamber of horrors ride updated for the 21st century. It's all done in 3D, and the car you ride in moves and shakes like a flight simulator. It ends with a simulated drop from the top of a skyscraper that is so convincing that I was still bracing for impact after riding it 7 or 8 times!
A shot of the park taken from Citywalk. You can see the tower of Dr. Doom's Fearfall, a ride that simply shoots you up hundreds of feet in the air and then drops you back to the ground.... all in a few seconds. The coaster that you see is The Incredible Hulk.
Here's a similar shot, taken at dusk. Right in the center of the picture you can see a huge tube. That is where you are literally launched out of to begin the Incredible Hulk rollercoaster. By the time you reach the top of the first hill, you're already at top speed, no waiting for gravity on this one!
A final shot of the lighthouse, taken at sunset.
