Shawn & Michelle: Cancun 2002: Cancun
A beautiful beach shot taken in from of the Cancun Palace, a sister resort to the Moon Palace where Michelle and I stayed. This is the one thing that was missing at our resort.... a nice beach for swimming. Even so, we were able to come here and use this as often as we wanted, so it wasn't much of a loss.
Another shot of the beach and yes, the water is really that color. Not only that, but the water in the ocean here is warmer than even the warmest pools here at home. Then there is the sand. The sand on the beach is made from coral, it is pure white and never gets hot like the beaches in most other places. It feels great for barefoot walks on the beach.
A restaurant we ate at while visiting the Xpu-ha Palace Restort. It was another sister restort so we could use our all inclusive meal package. The food was great,a s was the entertainment. You can see a roaming band in the distance.
Actually a small town just outside of Cancun, this was where our snorkeling excursion launched from. This snorkeling trip was unbelievable.... unfortunately I can't show you these pics as they were taken with a disposable cam. Stop by sometime and I'll show them to you.
Ok, so the strip in Cancun could just as well be the shopping strip in any city in the US. Even so, just beyond those building is the bay and just behing us are the hotels with that beautiful ocean view. Definitely NOT something I can find where I live.
And here is one of those hotels. This is just the norm for Cancun, although we really liked this one because it mirrors the shape of the step pyramids found around the area.
Here's the front view of the Cancun Palace, the other hotel in the Palace Resorts chain (of 6 resorts in Cancun) that we spent quite a bit of time at. Not as large as our resort, but a much nicer beach.
How would yo like to have a view like this from your back porch? This is the pool at the Cancun Palace. Much like the pool at our resort, it features a huge shallow wimming area with bridges passing overhead and swim up bars. Not a pool person? The beach is just a few steps beyond!
